Paying it Forward
Acuity is a project dedicated to unlocking educational opportunities for students across Australia.
Of course, our mentoring and tutoring programs target this outcome.
But for us, we don’t want to restrict out impact to only those who can afford high-quality support.

Although our entire mentoring program is incredibly unique, one component stands out in particular.
Our students are empowered to hold themselves accountable, plus make a massive impact along the way.
Through small daily wins—extending a habit streak or hitting another mini-deadline—students are rewarded by raising more money towards their chosen cause.
Each little win for our students means a lot for someone else. It means a lot for us too.
In trusting our mentorship, you’re directly helping to pay that impact forward. Your session costs are diverted towards a much greater cause, meaning you help not only yourself by working with us, but other students much more in need as well.
1.2 million Australian children and young people are living in poverty today. In 2025, with only a small, but dedicated group of mentoring students, we raised $464 for The Smith Family.
This sum was small, but the impact was tangible. Every dollar went towards funding an education for Andreis, a Year 5 student in Victoria.
These funds meant that Andreis was equipped with essential school supplies like uniforms, books, and stationary. Plus it allowed him to access additional learning support and ongoing mentoring through the Learning for Life program.
Locally, this made a massive difference for a real student doing it tough. It also fosters an important perspective for our mentoring students.
For our students, when their positive action raises another dollar, it brings with it fulfilment, gratitude, and a moment to reflect on our relative privilege.

Wealth inequality is the limiting factor holding so many back from a strong education. As is well-documented, education is among the most impactful gateways for improving so many quality-of-life outcomes among those who are impoverished. At Acuity, we feel it is our responsibility to help close this gap.
In 2026 and beyond, we’re driven to do more.
We have been unconditionally committed to empowering Australian high school students with confidence, but now we’re bringing this commitment abroad.
All students in our mentoring program will have the opportunity to choose exactly who they support, through direct loans to students in developing nations.
Their hard work throughout the term in staying accountable to the goals they set themselves will fund a donation from us each month that can reach students across the world.
All this is possible through Kiva, a globally-recognised not-for-profit that has impacted over 5 million underserved people worldwide.
Unashamedly, It truly is awesome. We can’t wait for you to be involved.
Practically, this system works, too.
It is an effective evidence-based approach that stacks small gains to build desired habits, consistency, and meaningful change.
It works by breaking down the anxiety-inducing large or distant goals—say, finishing your history essay—into smaller, easily management chunks, but goals that are specific; like, write one sentence in your introduction by 5pm tomorrow.
Rather than practicing inconsistency (alternating between cramming and procrastinating), our mentoring program systemises consistent effort that doesn’t feel overwhelming or difficult.
Our collective fundraising project provides the meaningful incentive and instant positive feedback, while our approach to breaking down barriers to work makes beating procrastination simple.
When study revolves around doing less, more often, and is instantly rewarding—both externally and internally—stress dissolves and you can actually start to enjoy the process. That’s our goal.
